Recently the NH LEGO League was asked to provide technical support and classroom training for the FIRST Jr. STEAM Ahead program in Manchester, NH. FIRST Jr. STEAM Ahead is an initiative to provide a robotics education to fourth graders in the City of Manchester. Since 2009 the NH LEGO League has been designing, and presenting classroom educational programs that focus on STEM related activities, but also emphasize teamwork, problem solving and communication skills.
We are honored to be part of this collaborative process that includes FIRST, The Manchester School District, and STEAM Ahead. We have
already begun working with the program managers, mentors, and teachers to help build on the great work they have done so far. What is truly remarkable is the work these kids have done to try and understand and integrate the math and science concepts being introduced.
There is a lot of work to do as we "Steam Ahead" and we look forward to putting our NH LEGO League stamp on the program. Working with close to 1,000 kids each year we have seen what the power of LEGO Mindstorms and the ideals of FIRST can do to spark the innovation and imagination of young people. Stay tuned for more on this program as it will surely grow to be something special.
The NH LEGO League has been working with children who have a passion for LEGO brick building since 2009. Everyday we hold LEGO building and robotics activities around the state for our members and partner schools with a focus on building, learning, and having fun. Over a thousand kids from Goffstown, Manchester, Derry, Weare, Hooksett, New Boston, Milton, Somersworth, Portsmouth, Dover and more have participated in programs this year.
